Therapy

 Hi everyone,

Lets talk about therapy!!!

That's right.

My first question is

Is it difficult to consider therapy in your life?

And why so?

My second question is

Does therapy help everyone?

Recently, I got a chance to think on the whole area around therapy, its advantages and disadvantages.

And I realised that therapy is really good and important in our lives – and I mean therapy in its many forms. Therapy has existed since the ancient times and will continue to exist far beyond our present.

Because of the various changes that we undergo in modern life, it’s often hard to find time to talk to someone about all your issues. Also, people tend to have trust issues. And that’s why professional therapy is frequently available in various guises, which is both confidential and a safe space to understand yourself better in this busy world.

Social stigma plays a part in the reluctance to seek therapy because people want to be seen cool and with no troubling issues in their lives. Let's normalize therapy as a basic need and not otherwise. I can understand a fun life, but we all have an emotionally rich inner life....

So people who don’t display emotions in public might instead embrace a form of therapy among your friends and feel it's okay to let people around you to know that you're going through some difficulties and need some space rather than acting all okay and letting things rot inside you.

You don't even have to say what you're going through if you’re uncomfortable, but embrace that moment, heal and overcome your traumas.

I think through that honesty then it won't be as difficult as it seems to search for therapy anywhere.

Another thing is to make time for yourself and your sessions in order to heal. I can understand how difficult and frustrating it must be to dig deep inside our emotions and understand ourselves better, but believe me once you're through that, you actually feel a relief.

Try to find therapy that is according your budget if you can not afford the expensive ones, as not every therapy is costly. Talk to someone you trust and you think can give you advice outside the box, someone who has experienced your situation or someone older than you. Sometimes it's good to speak to a stranger as they say that. Give yourself time, travel if it needs to be, or practice mindfulness, meditation, yoga, exercise and feed your mind with positivity, and solutions and encouragement. Pray and believe if you're a spiritual person, but most importantly do not ignore your feelings in order to solve what's inside you.

Lastly, if you choose to go to a therapist, try to choose the type of therapy that's specific to your problem. Try not to attach yourself too much to therapy because it's there to support you, and not to be relied on entirely as a crutch. Some forms of therapy will provide you with the key skills for overcoming anxiety, for example. And many therapists will be able to assist you with coping in stressful situations, so talk to them about what’s stressing you or causing you concern in your life. Even if you don't have a clue what’s bothering you, that's okay too. Your therapist or someone you talk to can assist you on slowly getting through that.

This takes time as I say, not to rush because you want to heal from all that's inside you. You could get mad sometimes about how things happened but you just gotta accept that in the end. This will be a topic for another time.

Just remember, depending how deep your situation is....any form of therapy does help everyone at different paces and this is one of the ways to break the cycle.

So don’t be afraid to ask yourself what things are bothering you and if you need therapy or not.

Thank you
